About Us

We are sisters who live locally and enjoy the Whitstable lifestyle
with our families and dogs.

We are both members of the local Yacht club, and can offer tips on places to eat, how to get on the water and the best local walks and bike rides to enjoy whilst here.

We take great pride in the Old Schoolhouse, and also in our Boutique Hotel in Canterbury, and do our utmost to ensure our guests have a fabulous, stress-free stay.

We offer self check-in using key safe boxes in the building, allowing you a very private, relaxed stay whilst being handy in case of issues or questions.

We absolutely loved our stay here! Perfect for a few nights away by the coast. Easy walking distance to everything you need. The home is well equipped and feels so homely. We wish we could have stayed longer! Thanks so much.

An absolutely wonderful and unique converted school - everything has been done beautifully, extremely comfortable and convenient, perfect if you have small children. Cannot recommend enough.

Really lovely place to stay in Whitstable. The property had everything we needed with lots of thoughtful touches and high end equipment. The garden is beautiful - a sun trap and perfect to relax in the afternoon with a BBQ and well maintained jacuzzi. Great communication with the owners. Would definitely recommend.

Julie’s place is a really interesting and clever conversion, making great use of the space and full of character and thoughtful touches. Communication was great before and throughout our stay, with messages answered within 10 minutes. The outdoor space was a lovely bonus and the hot tub great fun. Would definitely recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Old School House. It certainly lived up to expectations and we would thoroughly recommend it. The comfortable, spacious, accommodation was spotlessly clean, very well equipped, and in a convenient location, within easy walking distance of the sea front. It is close to shops, and any number of pubs, restaurants and takeaways. It also provided an excellent base from which to explore the local area, on foot, by public transport, or private car. Historic Canterbury is close by as is the charming Victorian seaside town of Broadstairs. Communication with Julie was excellent. She is an efficient and helpful host, who responded very quickly to our messages.

The School House was perfect. Beautifully designed and decorated, comfy beds, a nice stroll along the high street past all of the antique shops, hot tub added an extra element of fun too! Julie very kindly allowed us an early check in and late check out which really helped with our train times and she communicated very well. Would hope to be back!

We've just returned from a fantastic stay at 4 Old Schoolhouse. The place itself was very clean, stylish and comfy and really well equipped. Off road parking in this central location was really handy and the newly landscaped garden with hot tub was an unexpected bonus. The location is excellent...a few mins walk from a fab bakery and loads of other shops and 10 mins walk down to the beach where there are lots of places to get oysters, coffee, doughnuts, etc. The area is very dog friendly with lots of walking options from coastal walks to forest walks. We would love to come back one day, thank you Julie!

Wow, we can’t recommend this place enough. Great location with an easy and lovely walk through Whitstable and to the beach. The accommodation was spotless and such high quality, superbly equipped with lots of special touches. Julie and Suzanne were very quick to answer any queries and couldn’t have been more helpful. Probably the best Airbnb we’ve stayed in.

Number 2 is an amazing property. The decor and space is lovely, the amenities are great and we had a really nice stay. Being so close to the high street in Whitstable makes such a difference to a stay but it's also just far back enough to feel quiet and private. I was particularly impressed with the kitchen which was well stocked with everything you'd need to do anything from prep a breakfast to a main meal. Access to two different hot tubs was a real bonus too! Make sure you bring swimming gear even if the weather isn't great.

The most amazing Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in (and I’ve stayed in a lot!). Every single detail has been considered and lots of love and care (and money!!) has clearly gone into this place. Location is fab, hosts are wonderful and I genuinely could not recommend it more!

I ended up giving the booking away to my parents, I’m so glad I did. They had the best experience and were delighted with the accommodation, the hosts and the location. Julie was so kind to let me swap the booking and was very communicative the whole time. Went above and beyond for us and I’ll definitely be booking this again (for myself this time)

About The Old Schoolhouse.

The Old Schoolhouse was called “St Alphege school”, and ran from the Victorian era until the 1970’s. Converted into 4 houses in the 1990’s, the original features were carefully retained.

We love the charm and character of the Schoolhouse, with its beautiful high ceilings, funky double staircase, rooms within the roof beams and secret little vents and covers in nooks all around the building.

In Number 1 you climb over rafters to reach your bed. In Number 2 you stand back to take in the 6 metre high beamed lounge ceiling. In number 4 you snuggle up in the cosy, vaulted ground floor bedroom space, whilst in Number 3 you clamber up split staircases and wallow in the warmth of the log fire.

The Old Schoolhouse enjoys a quiet, very private location, tucked in behind the high street

with ample parking. For group travel, to hop from one home to the next you remain on private land, it feels very safe and peaceful. Our rear courtyard garden spaces are both gated to keep children and pets safe, allowing you to sit outside in peace whilst the children play and the BBQ sizzles.

We hope you enjoy the house as much as we do, and join the many repeat visitors we welcome every year.
